San Francisco 49ers (1-4) vs Green Bay Packers (2-2-1)

The Packers will host the San Francisco 49ers tonight in Lambeau Field at 5:15 PM Pacific time. Both teams have been struggling and are coming off tough losses; the Green Bay Packers lost a heart-breaker to the Detroit Lions 23 to 31 while the 49ers dropped an upset to the lowly Cardinals 18 to 28.

The 49ers could not stop the Arizona Cardinals and their rookie quarterback Josh Rosen from picking up their first win of the season. In tonight’s game they face a determined Aaron Rodgers who keeps on impressing, despite doing so on one leg. the Packers are 9 point favorites at home in the latest 49ers vs. Packers odds. I’m not a gambling man, but if I were I would not take that bet.

Most pundits agree that the 49ers should and will get routed by Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay packers, but its not always so cut and dry in the NFL. Rodgers has been hobbled with a knee injury since week one and though he continues to play at a high level, he has struggled with his footwork due to the injury. This may cause him to take a while longer to warm up, ultimately effecting his production in the first half of games.

The 49ers defense under coordinator Robert Saleh has steadily improved, but they still have had issues with blown assignments and poor tackling. On the other side of the ball, head coach and play caller Kyle Shanahan’s offense has shown flashes, but his young team continues to struggle with mistakes, turnovers, and dropped passes.

The back stories for these two proud franchises have been nothing short of historical, but this game will not share that same sentiment of those bygone eras. The Packers are still considered a contender, but in reality are only slightly more fortunate this season then the 49ers. The 49ers are being considered for the overall number one pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. With nothing more to lose, the 49ers could be dangerous.

The 49ers have been their own worst enemy this season, finding ways to lose. If they can some how manage to play mistake free football and get after Aaron Rodgers, they just might have a chance against a struggling Packers team. Like I stated earlier, I wouldn’t bet on it, but for 49ers fans, you can bet they’ll be singing the song of hope… Any given Sunday!
